The Tattoo Experience

Honestly, I’m one of those who have always wanted to have a tattoo but when you ask me why, shallow as it may seem, my only reason is for aesthetic. I say this because other people have a real purpose for wanting one and undergoing the pain. Some would dedicate this to a departed love one and some would really choose designs that represent different aspects of their lives. But for a skin baring person like me, I’m just really up for the thrill of seeing something that’s not in other people’s skin..
The inspiration
I had a hard time looking for a design because I don’t really have a meaning in mind, but because I love calla lily (which is another story), I finally decided to have it as my tattoo.
Glenn and I decided to have it together at the same time and after hours of browsing, I finally chose Toxztattoo which is conveniently locataed at Robinsons Metroeast. For a price of P2500 I was able to have the tattoo you’ll be seeing later and a small ambigram on my left shoulder.
Just for the aftercare, petroleum jelly is a must at first but don’t expect it to help the tattoo heal because it just keeps the wound moist. My tattoo was sort of a painting (and definitely not the ex-con type) so it required a lot of colors and strokes which meant it was more painful. One time, I made the mistake of wearing a silky black polo to work. After some hours, the petroleum jelly dried and the polo sticked to my tattoo…The hell part was removing the polo from the tattoo.. To help tattoo heal fast, the tattoo artist recommended Vandol Cream. It was a little expensive but definitely worth the price.
The Calla Lily and Coi Fish
So there you go! The calla lily meets the coi fish (of Glenn)…It’s about 4 inches wide and 6 inches long on my right shoulder. The ambigram (not in the picture) is located on my left shoulder.
